100 Days of AI
What it means to be human in this Age of AI
#100DaysOfAI
So a thing happened: in the past couple of weeks I started to experiment in earnest about using AI, not to do work for me, but to act as a suit of power armor to help me accomplish those things that I need, or want to do. I’ve found some powerful patterns and uses of AI, that leave me feeling inspired, creative, and accomplishing the key things that I want and need to do.
For months, I’ve been watching the AI revolution unfold around me as I dabble in using meeting transcribers to record meeting notes, and ChatGPT to find me good recipes, etc. I was, like millions of others, a pretty casual user of AI in my daily life. I’ve also been reading about how people are using AI as a transformative tool and game changing technology, and I want to see what is possible. I’ve been reading and watching how to videos and tutorials a lot on this topic!
Although I also recognize that I’ve been disguising the dopamine addiction of watching YouTube videos and reading articles about AI as “research” into the topic -- it fels like I am diving deep, and learning lots, but really, it is just entertainment for the most part without any tangible benefits. It’s not really learning, it’s dopamine addiction. It’s time to call bullshit on the passive consumption of content, and actually do something with it.
I am committing to deep diving into AI and AI technologies and doing hands-on experiments and use of the tools during my work and free time for the 100 Days that comprise roughly the last quarter of 2025. I will not just read and learn, but I will also implement and experiment and try different things to really embed AI into my life and figure out the best ways for me to use it while still retaining those things that are important to what makes me... well, me. As Simon Sinek says -- and let me paraphrase it here -- “AI is all about the destination, and it’s the journey that give us meaning.” Here’s to the journey, and how AI can make it richer, not faster.
This is the kick off post about this new experiment and season and if you are interested, please follow along on my journey. I’ve been on this 100 day journey for a little while now, since about mid-September, and think it’s time to start sharing that journey with you all.
The two key moments:
On September 15, 2025, I made a commitment:
#100DaysOfAi - Use AI daily for real work, document what I learn. Actively study and use AI in real-work applications for the next 100 days and go deep into the bleeding edge of how people and companies are transforming their organizations using this transformative technology.
On October 1st, 2025, I made another commitment:
Weekly Substack writing - At least one article per week on Emergent Insights about this journey and what I’ve learned, sharing the cool things I discover, the insights and surprises, and actively show my work in this area and what I am up to.
So here we are. I am starting this new series of articles this week and hope to write at least once per week through the end of the year. Getting into a cadence and rhythm of sharing and thinking through writing seems like a fun journey! Also, if you would like to walk alongside me, please do let me know and share what you’ve been up to, things you have learned, and how you are using AI. I’d love to hear from you.

Thinking about the "human journey" and AI as a tool to enhance that journey, I am reminded of 'Ithaka' by C.P. Cavafey: https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/51296/ithaka-56d22eef917ec
"Keep Ithaka always in your mind.
Arriving there is what you’re destined for.
But don’t hurry the journey at all.
Better if it lasts for years,
so you’re old by the time you reach the island,
wealthy with all you’ve gained on the way,
not expecting Ithaka to make you rich."
